The tradition of laying wreaths every five years at all war cemeteries in Asia on behalf of the 15 August 1945 Commemoration Foundation continued in 2015. Diplomatic representatives and the War Graves Foundation extended their help with this. As well as wreaths being laid at all war cemeteries in Indonesia, wreaths were also laid in Thailand at the Don Ruk and Chung Kai Kanchanaburi graveyards, the Kranji War Memorial in Singapore, the Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery in Myanmar, and Perth, Australia. The defence attaché in Tokyo laid the wreath at the Yokohama War Cemetery and the Kruismonument in Mizumaki. Photographs, which are still available, were taken at the individual war cemeteries.
War victims and prisoners of war who died in the camps at Changi and Kranji are buried here. 19 Dutch nationals are interred here. The war cemetery was built and is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC).
A full list of comparable war cemeteries, monuments and commemorations worldwide will be published here as soon as possible.
