Flag protocol

In honour of the official end of the Second World War, the general flag protocol set out by the Prime Minister permits an official addition to the flags flown on government buildings on 15 August.

Across the country, provinces, councils and water authorities follow the formal flag protocol of flying the Dutch flag at full mast, without pennant. Civilians, businesses and organisations may use the protocol as a guide, but this is not compulsory.
